Today we will be travelling to 十分 Shifen. We took a train to Ruifang station from Taipei station. After that we boarded another train headed to Shifen. You can buy the ticket for the entire journey at Taipei station so that you do not need to waste time queuing for another ticket at Ruifang station.
We come across this stall selling BBQ Chicken Wing Stuffed With Rice. This dish is both innovative and delicious, and must try if you are at this place.
One of the main activity to do here is to make and release Sky Lantern. It has been a long time since we use Mandarin but nevertheless we managed to complete our piece of art. It is thrilling to see our Sky Lantern flying high into the sky. This unique experience makes it worthwhile to travel to this place in the outskirts.
After our accomplishment, we proceed to 十分瀑布Shifen Waterfall. This is about half an hour walk from the main street and we are rewarded with a magnificent view of the waterfall. There are two main view points.
It is time to visit another night market which is 基隆廟口夜市 Keelung Miaokou Night Market. We took a train back to Ruifang and transferred to a bus headed to Keelung. This night market is one of our favorites as the food available here is amazing. Some delicacies which we had at the night market include 香肠 Small Bites Sausage, 春卷 Popiah, 红烧鳗鱼 Braised Eel and 螃蟹羹 Crab Meat Soup.
We top it up with 刨冰 for dessert at the Three Brothers & Sisters 三兄妹 cafe back at Ximending.
