Lucerne is a charming city located in central Switzerland. It straddles across the Reuss river and is surrounded by snow capped mountains. The view is simply mesmerizing everywhere you are in the city.
We stayed at the Ameron Hotel Flora Luzern which was conveniently located within short walk from the train station. The key attractions were also easily accessible from the hotel. After checking in the hotel, we set out to explore the city.

The Chapel Bridge is an icon of the city. It is a wooden covered bridge built in 1333 and it links the the old and new town on both sides of the Reuss river. We spotted flocks of swan and mandarin ducks wading in the river.
We went to view the Lion monument which depicted a dying lion carved onto a rock. The carving commemorates the hundreds of Swiss Guards who were massacred during the French Revolution. The place was very peaceful with the silence broken by the occasional tourist groups.
We passed by the old swiss house which stands out with its cottage like architecture. It is a restaurant which serves traditional Swiss cuisine. We did not try the food though.
We had our dinner at the Taube Restaurant where we ordered Rosti with sausage and bacon. Both dishes were excellent and we were delighted to taste authentic Swiss cuisine at its best.
