Nami Island became a popular destination due to the Korean drama Winter Sonata which was filmed on the island. We took the subway to Gapyeong Station, followed by a taxi ride to Gapyeong Wharf. After that we boarded the ferry which brought us to the island. The entire journey was about two hours. For more adventurous travelers, there was also the option of flying via the zip wire to reach the island.
The island was quite small with well defined paths leading from one end to the other end. We could view various species of trees as we strolled along the paths. As spring had only just arrived on the island, the trees were either bare or with little leaves. It might be better to come during autumn where the island would be covered with colorful leaves.
We had sandwich and scones for lunch at May Cafe located in the center of the island. After filling up our tummy we embarked on the long journey back to Seoul.
We shopped for a while in Myeondong before heading to 신선설농탕 Sinseon Seolnongtang (777-4531) for dinner. The restaurant was famous for its ox bone soup. The soup was prepared by shimmering ox bone until it turned into milky broth. The soup also came with slices of meat and green onions. However it would be better if more meat were served.
Our next destination was to visit N Seoul Tower which supposedly provided a panoramic view of the city. We took a bus at the bus stop near Myeongdong station which brought us to N Seoul Tower in about half an hour. Unfortunately, it was foggy and we could not get clear views of the city.
