We hired a private taxi to bring us from Orleans to Paris. After about two hours, we reached our accommodation at Best Western Hotel Folkestone Opera. The hotel is conveniently located close to Champs Elysee which is the main shopping district in Paris. Printemps and Galeries Lafayette which are two popular malls for duty free shopping are also located within walking distance.
After checking into the hotel, we had lunch at a nearby cafe. Then we went to do some window shopping at Galeries Lafayette and Printemps in the Haussmann district. Printemps has an open air rooftop which is accessible to the Public. From the rooftop, we could enjoy panoramic views of famous landmarks such as Sacre Coeur and Eiffel Tower.
Eiffel Tower is impressive in the day and in the evening it transforms into a giant beacon of light. We parked ourselves comfortably at the Trocadero gardens while waiting for the Eiffel Tower to be lighted up. When the moment came, there was a light beam radiating from the top of the tower and the entire tower was glittering like stars. The duration of the illumination is five minutes and repeats every hour in the evening.
