Taiwan Trip Day 2 : Wulai

Taipei Wulai
Wulai 烏來 is a small town to the south of Taipei. It is located in the mountainous region with nice scenic views. We took the metro to Xindian and from there it was a thirty minutes bus ride to the small town.

We ordered a set meal at 泰雅婆婆美食店. The stall along the old street serves local aboriginal food. The meal comprises bamboo rice, fried vegetables and soup. The bamboo rice was fragrant and delicious. The vegetables were unique as we had not come across them before. Fortunately the taste was fine and not something weird.

After a hearty meal, we went for hotspring at Full Moon Spa. The private room is spacious and it has a wet and dry area. After dipping in the hotspring in the wet area, you can rest at the reclining chair in the dry area. We felt refreshed and rejuvenated after the session.

We had wanted to view the waterfall which was about twenty minutes walk from the old street. However it was raining quite heavily and we had only one small umbrella to share. Hence we decided to call it a day.

We had our dinner at Coffee Alley at the Taipei station. We ordered the beef stew, ice cream waffles, cappuccino and hot chocolate. The beef was soft and melted almost immediately when you put it in your mouth. The waffles along with the ice cream and chocolate sauce helped to satisfy our sweet tooth. The cappuccino provide the much needed caffeine boost while the hot chocolate came with marshmallows which was a nice touch.
