Europe Trip Day 3 : Barcelona - Sagrada Familia & Montjuic Castle & La Boqueria Market

Barcelona Sagrada Familia

This morning, we will be exploring the Sagrada Familia. This church is an awesome piece of art and architecture designed by Gaudi. Work started on the Sagrada Familia in 1882 and till now, the building of the church is still on-going. The church towers into the sky and is a prominent building from anywhere in Barcelona.

The Sagrada Familia has four different facade when fully completed. So far only the Nativity façade and the Passion facade are completed. The various sculptures crafted into the facade symbolize different themes and stories.

The interior of Sagrada Familia is as fascinating as its facade. The colorful stained windows and the intricate interior design provide a stunning visual experience. It will be interesting to see how Sagrada Familia looks like when it is fully completed.

Next we went to Montjuic Castle which provided a good view of Barcelona. To travel to Montjuic Castle, we took a metro to Parallel and transferred to the funicular and cable car. We were able to have a panoramic view of the city as well as the port area right at the top of Montjuic Castle.

After that we took the metro to La Rambla where we had lunch at Wok to Walk cafe located near the La Boqueria Market. At Wok To Walk, we selected the ingredients from a menu and the cook would mix and stir-fry them on the spot. The result was a satisfying and hot meal after a short waiting time.

We went back to Cervecería Catalana for dinner. The cafe deserved a second visit as the tapas were simply irresistible.
