Today we took a morning flight from Barcelona to Milan via EasyJet. EasyJet provides an affordable and comfortable way to travel between countries in the Europe continent. We had used EasyJet a couple of times and the experiences were pleasant. After clearing immigration, we took the Malpensa Airport Shuttle to transfer from Mapensa Terminal 2 to Terminal 1. After which we boarded the Malpensa Express which brought us to the city in about 50 minutes.
This time we stayed at Milan Hilton Hotel which is conveniently located within minutes from the Milan Central metro. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and a good sized bathtub.
We had our lunch at W.O.K. at Milan Central. We had fried noodles and fried rice and the hot meals provided the necessary warmth in the cool weather.
Our next stop was to head to Santa Maria delle Grazie where we had made a reservation to view The Last Supper. Reservation is absolutely necessary and should be made well in advance. The previous time we were in Milan, we did not manage to view The Last Supper as it was fully booked.
It was awesome viewing The Last Supper at a close distance. The masterpiece by Leonardo Da Vinci was etched into the wall of the church. Although the painting was done in the late 15th century, it was very well maintained over the years.
We proceed to Piazza del Duomo where we visited the Milan Cathedral. The Cathedral is magnificent both in size and the beauty of its architecture.
After a fruitful time exploring Milan, we went to Ristorante Galleria located at Galleria Vittorio Emauele for dinner. We had the wood oven baked pizza and the minestrone soup which were absolutely delicious. The pizza was served hot from the oven and the cheese and toppings were infused with the layer of thin and crispy crust.
