Korea Trip Day 4 : Seoul Myeongdong

It was time to bid goodbye to Jeju as we got onto our flight to Seoul. We took the Airport Railway Express from Gimpo Airport to Hongik University station and after that traveled via the subway to Myeongdong.
We stayed at Metro Hotel which was conveniently located in the Myeongdong shopping district and it was within a few minutes walk to the nearest subway station. The room was of decent size and well maintained. What we do not like was the location of the air con which was mounted directly over our bed. It was not conducive for sleeping as we could hear the sound of the air con quite clearly from the bed.

Myeongdong was a shopping haven with many shopping malls and boutique shops. There were also numerous restaurants and cafes. This area was very lively and it got even busier in the evening when street stalls start springing up to offer more choices for food and shopping.

We had dinner at 명동교자 Myeongdong Kyoja (776-5348). The dumplings were filled with soft and juicy minced meat while the noodles were springy and tasty. With such delicious food, it was no wonder that the restaurant was packed with patrons.

We went to Cheonggyecheon Stream for an evening stroll after dinner. The stream was a waterway that had been transformed into a beautiful landscaped park below street level. We could see various interesting water features as we walked along the stream. This place provided a refreshing and relaxing environment for one to momentary escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
